Indications
– Extreme hypocalcaemia (hypocalcaemic tetany, neonatal hypocalcaemia, and many others.)– Symptomatic hypermagnesaemia on account of extreme doses of magnesium sulfate

– 1 g ampoule (100 mg/ml, 10 ml; 10% resolution) for gradual IV injection or infusion in 5% glucose or 0.9% sodium chloride or Ringer lactateAlso is available in 5 g ampoule (100 mg/ml, 50 ml), 10 g vial (100 mg/ml, 100 ml), 20 g vial (100 mg/ml, 200 ml).
Dosage
– Extreme hypocalcaemiaNeonate: 2 ml/kg of a ten% resolution by IV infusion over half-hour adopted by 4 ml/kg of a ten% resolution administered by steady infusion over 24 hoursAdult: 10 ml by gradual IV injection (over at the very least 5 minutes), both repeated as required, or adopted by steady infusion of 40 ml of a ten% resolution over 24 hoursChange to oral route as quickly as attainable.
