For the application in a magnesium battery, based nonaqueous liquid electrolyte system containing dimethyl sulfoxide DMSO and magnesium bromide (MgBr 2 ) is synthesized by ‘solvent-in-Salt’. At ambient temperature, an optimized MgBr2 /DMSO electrolyte solution exhibits a high ionic conductivity of 10 2 S/cm. With Mg anode and graphite cathodes, it was possible to build a prototype cell. The Mg/graphite cell shows promising cycling.
