Charges of response – (CCEA)
Calcium carbonate with dilute acid
CaCO3+ HCl → CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
Catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide
2H2O2 → O2 + 2H2O
Sodium thiosulfate with acid
The sulfur makes the answer change to opaque and if the conical flask is positioned over an X drawn on a bit of paper we will measure the time taken for the X to not be seen when considered from above. Sodium thiosulfate reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid to supply sodium chloride, water, sulfur dioxide and sulfur. ( frac {1}{time}) provides a measure of the speed of the response.
