8 Inch Howitzer

The BL 8-inch howitzer Marks VI, VII and VIII (6, 7 and 8)[note 1] have been a collection of British artillery siege howitzers on cell carriages of a brand new design launched in World Battle I. They have been designed by Vickers in Britain and produced by all 4 British artillery producers, however primarily by Armstrong, and one American firm. Use by United States[edit]

A complete of at the very least 285 M1917 (Mark 6), 116 M1918 (Mark 7), and 61 M1918 (Mark 8+1⁄2) weapons have been acquired by the US Military, plus 16 for the US Marine Corps. 52 weapons have been bought from the British starting in January 1918; subsequent stock figures point out they have been along with these totals.
