Vitamin C Quercetin

This blog post will walk you through: vitamin c quercetin.

Ascorbic acid is an essential vitamin with known antiviral properties (2) which is under investigation for its beneficial effects during the stress response in sepsis and critically ill patients (3). Quercetin (also known as 3,3′,4′5,7-pentahydroxyflavone) is a widely distributed plant flavonoid, found in several vegetables, leaves, seeds, and grains, where it is conjugated with residual sugars to form quercetin glycosides (8). Studies suggest that quercetin supplementation may promote antioxidant (9), anti-inflammatory, antiviral (10), and immunoprotective effects (11).
In this review we collate the evidence of the antiviral properties of quercetin, describe its biologic action and pharmacokinetics profile, expand on our previous review of vitamin C, discuss their synergistic actions, and propose this experimental multi-drug approach for the prevention and treatment of SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 pandemic.

Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) represents an emergent global threat which is straining worldwide healthcare capacity. Ascorbic acid is a crucial vitamin necessary for the correct functioning of the immune system.
It plays a role in stress response and has shown promising results when administered to the critically ill. Quercetin is a well-known flavonoid whose antiviral properties have been investigated in numerous studies.

Subjects were randomized into 3 groups, with supplements administered in double-blind fashion: Q500 = 500 mg quercetin·day–1, Q1000 = 1000 mg quercetin·day–1, and placebo. A general linear model was used to predict change in body mass and composition across groups with adjustment for demographic and lifestyle factors.
After adjustment for confounders, no significant differences in body mass (males interaction p value = 0.721, females p = 0.366) or body composition (males p = 0.650, females p = 0.639) were found between Q500 or Q1000 groups compared with placebo. No group differences in body mass or body composition were found in a subgroup of overweight and obese subjects. High-dose quercetin supplementation (500 and 1000 mg·day–1) for 12 weeks in a large, heterogeneous group of adults did not affect body mass or compositio.

Biocquercetin is up to 50 times more bioavailable

Vitamin C and Bio-Quercetin Phytosome is a highly potent vitamin C supplement enriched with an ultra-absorbable form of quercetin. Quercetin is a flavonoid that complements the health benefits of Vitamin C. And our NEW bioquercetin is encased in a plant-based phytosome delivery system, making it up to 50 times more bioavailable than a standard quercetin dose.Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that provides profound health benefits for the entire body. This supplement provides 1,000 mg of vitamin C along with 15 mg of ultra-absorbable quercetin.
Quercetin complements the action of vitamin C in supporting the health of the entire body.Additionally, the quercetin in this supplement is encapsulated in a phytosome. A phytosome is a tiny ball made of plant-derived phospholipids. By combining quercetin with this unique phospholipid-based delivery system, the quercetin in this formula is more easily utilized by the body.Getting enough vitamin C is extremely important for optimal health: this nutrient supports the immune system and helps maintain a healthy heart.
In fact, vitamin C and bioflavonoids are often present together in healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruits.Quercetin has a long history of use to mitigate the effects of seasonal immune challenges. In a randomized clinical trial, supplementation with quercetin elicited a healthy immune response in physically fit older adults.Another randomized controlled trial found similar results in trained athletes.3 In double-blind clinical trials, quercetin promoted a healthy inflammatory response, reduced oxidative stress, and helped maintain overall healt.
